For Transport Fever 3 slow cargo unloading, use a cargo station with a platform specialized for the delivered cargo, assign trucks to that platform, and check the vehicle's loading-speed modifiers. Small roadside stops handle cargo more slowly than larger stations. For partial deliveries, check the receiving district's cargo demand and the stop's coverage; the exact cause of the meat-truck case is not confirmed yet. Forcing an unload can discard unwanted cargo.
Why does unloading take longer than the journey?
If “Loading/unloading cargo is extremely slow!” describes your route—or “Ware entlädt langsam” at a simple stop—start with the terminal and vehicle combination. Loading and unloading depend on the vehicle's base loading speed, the platform, and storage stock.
| Check | Effect on handling |
|---|---|
| Small roadside stop | Cargo handling is slower than at larger stations. |
| Matching vehicle, terminal, and applicable warehouse specialization | Gives a loading-speed bonus. |
| Mismatched specialization | Gives a penalty; specialized platforms handle other cargo types significantly more slowly. |
| Train or tram longer than its platform | Slows loading and unloading and displays a warning. |
Open the vehicle window to see the cargo's loading-speed percentage. Hover over that cargo's loading-status row for the detailed modifiers. Compare the base loading speed in the vehicle window or vehicle store before replacing a truck.
For a train that also leaves cargo aboard, use Trains Not Unloading Cargo. For the equivalent ship problem, see Ships Not Unloading Cargo.
How do I speed up town deliveries?
Add matching specialized platforms — recommended for slow handling
You can add specialized platforms to a universal cargo station rather than building a separate station for every product.
Configure the cargo station
Select the station and click Configure. Use the module tabs at the bottom to add a platform with the specialization matching your cargo.
Assign trucks to the matching platform
Send each delivery line's trucks to its matching platform. A specialized platform can make other cargo types much slower, so check the assignment for each line.
Check the receiving area
Select the station and inspect its catchment radius. Buildings that can transfer cargo are blue; buildings that can transfer both passengers and cargo are white. During placement, cargo icons identify district and industry demand or supply.
Inspect handling and waiting separately
Check the vehicle's loading-speed breakdown. Also inspect the stop's departure configuration and additional wait time: extra waiting can continue after loading or unloading to space vehicles along the line.
Keep a small roadside stop
This retains the simpler street-side stop, but cargo handling remains slower than at a larger station. If unloading is the bottleneck, the specialized-platform option above addresses that limitation.
A warehouse alone does not distribute goods to town buildings. Check the delivery station's coverage as well. If the warehouse is part of a route between transport types, see Transfer Cargo Between Transport Types.
Why do meat trucks unload only a few items?
“My meat trucks are not depositing all the meat into the town depot. Why is it doing this?” describes a reported case where trucks unloaded only a few items even though the depot was not full. Its cause is not confirmed yet; spare capacity alone does not establish that the receiving district wants the cargo.
- Check the covered district's cargo demand. Commercial and industrial districts demand different cargo types, and buildings share their district's demand.
- Open the town's Supplies tab to inspect supply conditions and the cargo supplier statistics for the last 365 days.
- At an industry, inspect Input Stocks and Output Stocks, including their limits and expanded source or destination lists.
- Confirm the destination is inside the stop's catchment radius and accepts the carried cargo. Cargo unloads automatically where there is a relevant consumer or a nearby warehouse configured to store it.
If the receiving industry is outside coverage, use Connect Distant Resources and Industries to work on the connection.
Force unload is not a demand fix. If commercial districts do not want the delivered meat, forcing unloading can throw it away. Do not treat an empty truck afterward as proof that the town received every item.
