To set Transport Fever 3 starting money, activate the built-in Sandbox Mode mod, then edit your bank balance in-game to the amount you want. If you encounter “Kein Startgeld” and begin with an empty account, this lets you add capital instead of taking a starting loan.
How to Set Money Amount
Activate Sandbox Mode
When creating a Free Game, open the third tab, Add Mods, and use the Activate button for Sandbox Mode. It ships with the game.
Enter the game and change your balance
Use Sandbox Mode to edit the bank balance to your chosen amount. For example, if you want to begin with 1 million, enter that amount as your balance.
Save your funded game
Save after setting the balance. You can leave Sandbox Mode enabled, or save, disable it, and reload if you want to stop yourself adding more funds later.
The exact location of the in-game balance input is not confirmed yet. A separate starting-capital field in the map editor is also not confirmed yet.
For an existing save, open Load Game and access the save card's settings to adjust active mods, if that save allows editing its mod list. For other mod-management questions, see Find and Uninstall Mods and Find and Move the Mod Folder.
Starting a Map With Money: Which Option Fits?
Sandbox Mode — Recommended for a Specific Amount
Choose this to set a finite bank balance while keeping money in play. It directly answers the request to choose starting capital rather than fund the opening through a loan.
Achievements are generally unavailable with non-cosmetic mods or nonstandard gameplay settings. Whether disabling Sandbox Mode afterward restores achievements is not confirmed yet.
No Costs — Unlimited Funds
Choose No Costs if you want everything to be free. This built-in mod disables money completely and displays an infinite bank balance; it does not set a finite starting amount.
Standard Play — Loans or Subsidy Offers
Starting with an empty account and taking a loan is the normal opening described in the available material. This does not give you debt-free custom capital.
A subsidy offer may provide upfront money, but it is a timed contract rather than a chosen starting balance. Read its acceptance effects and deadline: failure reverses the upfront reward and may add a fine or reputation loss. If an offer involves building a connection, the relevant guides are Connect Distant Resources and Industries and Transfer Cargo Between Transport Types.
