AchievementsCampaign

Transport Fever 3 has 41 achievements: 4 for the campaign and 37 for Free Game. You can see them in your Steam library, the main menu, or the company progress window in game; unearned ones are greyed out. They are switched off when you use non-cosmetic mods or change gameplay settings from their defaults, so check your mod list before starting a save you want achievements on.

Which mods and settings turn achievements off?

The official manual says achievements are "generally unavailable if non-cosmetic mods are used or the gameplay settings are deviating from standard values." When you set up a new game with such a mod active, a yellow notice that achievements are deactivated appears on the setup screen.

Mod or settingAchievements
Deluxe Edition and Pre-Order contentStill work (players confirm)
Vehicles: No End Year (built-in)Off
Sandbox Mode (built-in)Off
Trees from TF2 (official)Off, according to players
Non-default gameplay settingsOff
Custom maps, including the Deluxe mapsFree Game achievements may not trigger

Players found that even some official Urban Games mods block achievements, so treat any mod that changes gameplay as a risk. If you need a mod and still want achievements, community mods such as Achievements Unbound on mod.io claim to keep them enabled; enable it with your other mods when you create the game or in the save's mod settings before loading. Its author notes it doesn't help on custom maps. If achievements already stopped counting, see Achievements Not Unlocking.

AchievementHow to get it
The Journey BeginsComplete the first campaign mission
Story MasterComplete all missions of the campaign
Story LegendCollect every star in every mission
PhaleristEarn all medals of the entire campaign

Each mission ends with one, two or three stars, or fails if a critical challenge is missed. Every mission also has an optional bonus goal that earns its medal (the crown and laurels icon). The mission-complete screen shows how many stars you got and whether you earned the special award.

The campaign has no in-mission screen listing these goals, so here they are from the official manual:

Where do you see your stars later? The campaign page doesn't show the stars you earned, which players have complained about. Read the mission-complete screen before closing it; one player skipped the dialogue with Esc and never found out how many stars they got.
